The Designer’s Guide to Marketing and Pricing is one of the books I refer to in the workshop. Peleg Top and Ilese Benun authored this smart marketing tool. Even though much of the information in this book is focused on the service sector of graphic design, there are some timeless pearls of wisdom that can be applied to any business.

The premise of Blue Ocean Strategy is that leading companies will succeed not by battling competitors, but by creating “blue oceans” of uncontested market space ripe for growth. Such strategic moves—termed “value innovation”—create powerful leaps in value for both the firm and its buyers, rendering rivals obsolete and unleashing new demand. This is hard core marketing theory that makes a lot of sense. This is not required reading but we will utilize some of the powerful principles outlined in this book.
